Bonus Room in Bulldog Red!

This oversized bonus room is multifunctional. Part of it is used to watch T.V. and play Wii games, so I left plenty of floor space.  (Also leaves a great space for sleeping bags when the kids have slumber parties.) The back part of the room is used for working out and has a boflex. You'll also see a stand with guitars. The older boys often use this room to jam. Then you'll notice the little desk and chairs that the little girls use when playing school, coloring... There is an easel tucked in one of the window niches and a basket of barbies tucked in the other. The border is lined with coasters and block buster movie cards. The futon, I found at a tent sale for $50.00 and the 2 matching wicker chairs and little black table were from the goodwill.

Traditional Jack and Jill Bathroom (boys and girls share)

I put a cheap white shower rod with a clear plastic curtain behind the nice shower curtain. I prefer to use window curtains rather than shower curtains because they are longer and more dramatic. You have to use 2 because the width isn't wide enough, however. I put the curtain on a bronze shower rod to match the bronze towel racks, knobs, and lights. I just screwed off one end of the rod and put it on as I would put a curtain on a rod rather than using traditional shower hooks.
Target and Wal-mart have the best deals on rugs, towels, and curtains. You could also check out T.J. Maxx and Marshalls.

Traditional Boys' Room

I found the Ralph Lauren down comforters and throw pillows at T.J. Maxx. The red sheets are soft jersey sheets from Wal-mart. The woven blinds are from Lowes. I opted for handy storage baskets under these cargo beds instead of putting skirts on the bed. I found the sturdy baskets at a Pier One outlet for only $8.00 each.

Transformed Traditional Dining Room into Office Space

This client never used her dining room. She needed office space, but was on a very tight budget. We simply worked with what she had in storage and in different rooms to make this into an office. We added panels to the windows and voila. I left her with a list of suggestions that would enhance this office space as her budget allows.

Clean and Modern

These clients were newlyweds and had a few hand-me-downs to work with. They are young and hip and completely adorable. Their home is a rental, so painting isn't an option. By adding some living room furniture, panels on the windows, pillows and a throw (all from Big Lots), we were able to pull together and coordinate their two main rooms, which are open to each other.

Faux Finishes

In this dining room turned office, I was going for a leathery, Ralph Lauren look. I started by painting the walls with some $1.00 oops paint I found at Home Depot. It was called "Tribal Pottery Brown". Then I mixed some white paint with glaze and water and rolled it on the walls with a crumpled up plastic grocery bag. I finished it off with a dark brown color that I made by adding some black paint and a little glaze and water to my tribal pottery brown, then applying it in a circular motion using a sponge.

These walls done in Heritage Yellow, were a little too bright when the sun would come through the big window over the door opposite the fireplace wall. The vaulted ceilings in this space are super high making it quite expensive to repaint this whole space. I decided to faux finish the focal wall (which happens to be the shortest wall). It was amazing to see how it completely softened the whole room.
I mixed some mustardy tuscan colored oops paint that I found in the garage with glaze and water and swirled it on the yellow walls with a sponge. After that completely dried, I mixed some white paint with glaze and water, and in small sections at a time, painted over the faux finished wall, immediately randomly blotching it off this way and that, using a wadded up damp cloth diaper to achieve the soft, tuscan look.

Fire-pit

I found an old giant urn at a pottery place. Originally, it sat on a pedestal and belonged at the front of a mansion, I suppose. I found it with a crack in it and asked the guy if I could have it for $50.00 without the pedestal instead of $600.00 with the pedestal. He laughed, but I told him that he would never be able to sell a giant cracked urn that didn't have a match and would only end up throwing it out anyway. I told him I wanted to repurpose it and use it for a fire-pit. He let me have it for $50.00! YAY! My husband happened to be with me that day and just grinned at me just shook his head. Then I went to a place where they sell fountains and benches and got 3 stone benches finished in a gray stone color to match the urn. Yippee, a unique and beautiful fire-pit!

Covered Deck

The iron love-seat, 2 chairs, and coffee table were on clearance at Wal-mart. The 2 blankets and the rug were from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. The rug was on clearance. The adirondack chairs were bought on the side of the road. I painted them. The cushions on the adirondack chairs and the 4 chairs around the table were on sale at Target. They just happened to match the cushions on the Wal-mart set. The lanterns hanging at the end of the deck near the stairs were from T.J. Maxx and the plant hangers were .87 cents each at Home Depot. The basket between the adirondack chairs was an old toy box. The gold and aqua pillows are from Home Depot.

Traditional Master Bathroom

The palisade blinds are from Lowes. You can order just about any dimension online. It added texture to this bathroom. The bath pillow is from Wal-mart along with the bath supplies used to  fill the baskets on the sides of the tub. The dried flower arrangement, I picked up at a garage sale. The metal tub tray across the tub is from Tuesday Morning. Notice all the texture in this small space... wicker, metal, stone, material. It all adds to the comfort of the space.

Traditional Master Bedroom

The bed-in-a-bag, coordinating pillows, and window valences are all from Tuesday morning. This master bedroom needed to be kid friendly... nothing too light. Rug came from a neighbor who was tossing it out because of koolaide stains.

Traditional Family Room

The mirror over the fireplace was on sale at Bombay Company Outlet. The picture over the couch had a tiny rip in it (which I easily repaired) and was clearanced beyond clearance at Kirkland's. The red pillows also came from Kirkland's. The greek key traditional rug was on sale at Sam's. The bead-board bench with a tufted pleather seat that holds shoes in it and sits in the foyer, I picked up at a Grand Harbor tent sale for next to nothing. Also the round side table with a checker board top and lions' feet had a broken leg and was clearanced at the tent sale. The chair in the background was an old hand-me-down that was recovered by my mom and me with some material that I found for only $4.00. (not per yard, but $4.00 total.) I also covered the matching chair with it that sits in another room. The window panels were purchased at Tuesday Morning. The basket next to the chair came from a garage sale. The bookshelves were passed on to me after my grandparents died. The lamp on the nesting tables came from the Goodwill. The two pictures on the wall coming down the stairs were on clearance at Bombay Outlet because the glass was broken. They had a white background and pink matting and bright gold frame. I sponge painted the background to match the walls, sponge painted the matting to match the reds in the room, antiqued the gold frames, and put glass on them. I also touched up some of the colors in the big picture over the couch. (It had more blues and grays in it before I touched it up.)
