I began by transforming my own house, room by room and eventually started helping neighbors transform their houses. Today, because of word of mouth, I have a small business where I enjoy helping others with this transformation. I begin with what they have lying around their house, and work with their style and budget to help them transform their houses into homes.

Love my new coffee table!
I got this glass and iron coffee table at the same consignment shop where I got the chest. I've been hunting for a coffee table to replace the black wobbly chest I use in the keeping room. This looked a lot smaller in the big warehouse consignment. When I got it home it fit better with the larger scale furniture in my family room, so I used it in there and then moved my ottoman into my keeping room.
Of coarse when I put the ottoman in the keeping room, it clashed with the rug, bummer. I will get another rug if I find a good deal. Then I changed my red lamp shades to the gold ones I had in the attic. It lightened up the whole room. I switched to gold pillows last month because I was trying to lighten up that room to make it feel bigger. It had too much red with the valences. I like red as an accent, but not too much of it.
Speaking of too much red, when we moved to Athen's GA, home of the UGA Bulldog's, we decided to paint our bonus room red. It was fine for a bonus room, (especially since I rarely go in there). The boys and Keith liked it. For now, I moved the chest with the wobbly legs up there. We've tried to repair them, but to no avail. I use it to store photo albums. It actually looks good in the bonus room and will work for now since we are staging our house to sell.
Found an incredible deal on a french chest at a consignment shop
I've been wanting a french chest for some time now, but never bad enough to pay the price. I was thrilled when I found this at a consignment shop. I got an incredible deal! Chests are so versatile. You can put them in a foyer, behind a couch, bedside a bed... Here I used it in our office. Besides it being a beautiful piece, the drawers really come in handy for storage. Unfortunately, the drawers are broken on this one. I'll have to get my handy man husband to fix them in his spare time. That's what you get when you search for a bargain, but I'd rather that then have a perfect piece with a high price tag.

Spruced up Foyer
Found the bench at a tent sale. Great for family to put shoes in when they walk in the front door. The hooks are great for kids book bags on school days. Found the wall sconces at Bombay Outlet. The chalkboard was a Good Will find. It was a tacky painted mirror. I sprayed it with chalk board paint and put one of my favorite quotes on it. Pillow was from Tuesday Morning (it's reversible). I had it on my couch at one time, and then in a chair at another time. It worked well here to add a soft element to all the hard surfaces as well as repeat the shape and color of the frame above it. Also, the black chalkboard paint mirrors the black leather seat on the bench. I was looking for something besides another mirror or a picture to go there. I had some ironwork there, but it just wasn't working for me. This size and shape frame worked perfect for this space. The gold frame picks up the gold chandelier in the dining room opposite it and the mirror above the fireplace that you see as you walk in the front door.
